SAYeTECH, a Ghanaian startup specializing in innovative agricultural machinery designed for African conditions, has emerged as the winner of this year’s MEST Africa Challenge, securing $50,000 in equity funding to enhance its operations.

The MEST Africa Challenge, organized by the Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology (MEST) in partnership with the Norwegian Embassy, focused this year on agri-tech startups, providing them with essential support, funding, and mentorship under the theme “Find Their Soil.” This edition attracted a diverse array of applicants from across West Africa, including countries like Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, and Senegal, with six finalists selected to pitch their solutions in a grand finale in Accra.

SAYeTECH clinched the grand prize for its commitment to developing agricultural solutions tailored specifically for the continent. Founder Theodore Ohene-Botchway expressed his gratitude, stating, “The funding will enable us to scale production and reduce delivery lead times, providing smallholder farmers with the equipment they need to increase productivity.”

As SAYeTECH gears up to expand its impact in the agricultural sector, the role of firms like Knowdys becomes increasingly important. By monitoring developments in the agri-tech space and providing vital economic intelligence, Knowdys helps organizations navigate challenges and seize opportunities for growth. This partnership is crucial for fostering innovation and supporting the agricultural transformation across Africa.
